What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges are custom-crafted restorations designed to replace one or more missing teeth. They consist of prosthetic teeth, known as pontics, anchored to adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. Bridges not only fill the gaps left by missing teeth but also provide essential support to neighboring teeth, preventing issues such as misalignment and jawbone deterioration.

Types of Dental Bridges

The most common type, where the pontic teeth are anchored to adjacent natural teeth that have been prepared with dental crowns.

In cases where there is only one adjacent tooth, a cantilever bridge can be used, with the pontic anchored on one side.

For added stability and support, dental implants can be used as anchors for the bridge, eliminating the need to involve adjacent natural teeth.

The Dental Bridges Procedure

Consultation

During your initial consultation, our skilled dentists assess your oral health, discuss your concerns, and determine the most suitable type of dental bridge for your needs.

Preparation

If traditional or cantilever bridges are chosen, the adjacent teeth are prepared by removing a small amount of enamel to accommodate dental crowns. If implant-supported bridges are selected, dental implants are strategically placed.

Impressions

Detailed impressions of your teeth are taken to ensure the bridge is precisely crafted for a natural fit and appearance.

Placement

Once your custom bridge is ready, it is securely placed and adjusted for optimal fit and comfort. For implant-supported bridges, the prosthetic teeth are attached to the dental implants.

Temporary Bridge

While your permanent bridge is being created, a temporary bridge may be placed to protect the exposed teeth and maintain aesthetics.
